Kilometers long ethernet network over voice-grade twisted pairs

Function
The XSRING shdsl switch
enables to build a kilometers long multidrop or failsafe ring ethernet network using simple voice-grade twisted pairs (telephone lines) in applications like electrical utility substations, water distribution, pipe-lines, traffic control....

Multidrop or fail-safe ring network
A large number of XSRING switches can be connected together in a daisy-chain configuration using only one twisted pair between each switch.
If fail-safe operation is desired, the last switch
in the chain is looped back to the first one through one line, so that, in the event of a line break or switch failure, network communication is maintained.

Data rate
The data rate adapts from 192 Kb/s to 2,3 Mb/s depending on distance between switches and cable quality.

Distance
At 256 kb/s, the distance between two neighbour switches can reach 13 Km with a 0.9 mm diameter line wire, or 6,5 Km if the line wire diameter is 0.4 mm.

Traffic priority management (QoS)
Switches can introduce latency in times of heavy network traffic due to the internal queues that buffer frames. XSRING allows to give priority to critical applications. It allows priority classification by port, tags, MAC address, and IP type of service (TOS).

Designed for harsh industrial applications
The XSRING switch is made for demanding applications. Steel enclosure, large operating T° range ( -20 to+60 °C), double power supply input, SNMP management and "no internal connector" electronic design, allow to install the XSRING in almost any location.

Models
The basic product provides two SHDSL interfaces and four 10-100 bT RJ45 connectors.
Other models provide two 10-100 bT RJ45, instead of four, in conjunction with one or two asynchronous interfaces.
